A neon sign that says coffee

The Idea

During my last consulting role for Nestle Coffee Partners/Starbucks, I became obsessed with creating coffee that could be consumed all day. On one hand, people use coffee to start their day, but little is consumed beyond noon. On the other hand, consumers wanted their coffee to provide relaxation benefits as well. All Day Coffee connects those dots by adjusting caffeine and CBD levels in a coffee format its target consumer loves the most, Cold Brew. Thus, All Day Coffee is a coffee you can drink all day.

The Belmont Goats

All Day Coffee owes it to goats for its existence. Legend has it an Ethiopian goat herder named Kaldi noticed the berries his goats ate gave them unusual energy and kept them up at night. Monks confirmed his observation and began using the berries to enhance evening prayer. As word spread, the first coffeehouses were born.

For this reason, Portland's Belmont Goats have our affection and support. In 2012, they began occupying vacant blocks near SE 11th and Belmont streets. In 2015, the grocer Market of Choice moved in, and the goats moved to Lents. To commemorate the goats, Market of Choice affectionately referred to those blocks as 'The Goat Blocks' with outside sculptures and garage door etchings of goats. Today, the goats reside in St. Johns. More information can be found online at thebelmontgoats.org.

The XO-3 & the Cargo Bike

2023: The 30-year-old Bridgestone X0-3 bike loaded with CBD Coffee delivered me hundreds of miles to hundreds of coffeehouse visits all over Portland to gain understanding of this opportunity. While biking in the beautiful Portland summer weather, the All Day Coffee idea percolated.

2024: As the idea morphed into an 8oz Ready To Drink product, so did the need for a bike that could deliver it around the Portland. With the help of @tomcatbikespdx, we began to emulate the same delivery method that took place out of my 1896 home – by hand (and bike).
